Statement of Intent.
The following pictures were taken to challenge me and for the requirements of the course for tutors and fellow participants to critique for future improvement.
I have never tried street photography before with any specific intention, so after my daughter invited me to Weston Super Mare Carnival I thought I would give it a try. After taking a few general shots I noticed the actors on the floats and decided to try and take pictures primarily focusing on the participants faces. The following images are my attempt.
I found this particularly challenging. The very bright lights, all the colours and with everything moving, shutter speeds and focusing were all difficult. I used panning to try and keep things in focus. All images were originally taken in raw.
I took many pictures. I used Canons software to crop, remove some unwanted street furniture, highlight some colours, balance the light and after critiquing my images I selected the following. I put them in the following order. I started the story with a few general scenes and then with the faces getting larger towards the middle twelve shoots and ending again with a general shot.
